| Obverse description | A large royal crown is depicted at center, set within a tressure of nine Gothic arches; a trefoil of pellets ornaments each cusp of the tressure. The design is entirely anonymous, with no royal portrait or name, the crown serving as the sole emblem of royal authority. The surrounding field is plain, and the overall composition reflects the crude but characteristic style of mid-fifteenth century Irish hammered coinage. |
