Obverse description Facing crowned bust of Edward III within a tressure of eight arches, each cusp adorned with a fleur-de-lis, set against a flat hammered field. The king's effigy is rendered in the high-relief Gothic style typical of the Pre-treaty period, with a prominent crown and stylized facial features. A pellet stops the legend, which runs continuously around the periphery within a beaded inner circle. The overall composition is characteristic of the London Mint's 4th coinage, series F, distinguished by its crown mintmark.
