Alternating heraldic lions and fleurs-de-lis occupy the angles formed by the cross arms. A mint mark appears at the center intersection of the cross. A circular Latin legend in uncial script, incorporating the date expressed in Roman numeral form, runs along the outer border and is interrupted by the cross terminals.
