Reverse description The reverse displays a prominent eight-pointed Maltese Cross occupying the central field, with the letters I and S inscribed across the horizontal arms. A small Maltese cross appears at the top of the circular legend IN HOC SIGNO MILITAMUS, meaning 'Under this sign we fight,' running around the entire circumference. The design is enclosed by a beaded border consistent with the obverse. The bold, raised cross is the defining symbol of the Order of Malta.
