The eagle serves as the principal charge of the Lascaris family coat of arms. A circular legend in Latin surrounds the device, separated by a cross pattée at the beginning. The coin was struck by hammering, giving the flan an irregular outline typical of the period. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | A bold eight-pointed Maltese cross occupies the central field, its four arms equal in length and splayed at the tips, with concave indentations between each pair of arms. The date of issue is divided and placed in the angles formed by the cross arms, flanked by decorative branch or leaf motifs. A circular Latin legend surrounds the entire design, reading from a cross pattée. The overall composition is characteristic of the coinage of the Order of St. John during the seventeenth century. |
