Reverse description The reverse displays a bold Latin legend arranged across the field in two or three lines, reading R VT COMMO DIVS, a truncated rendering of the motto 'Ut Commodius' (meaning 'for greater convenience'), referencing the coin's utilitarian monetary function. The legend is struck in large, somewhat irregular characters typical of hammered Sicilian copper coinage. The flan is of irregular, roughly square-rounded shape with uneven surfaces and flan cracks. The overall design is austere, with no additional decorative elements, the entire reverse field being occupied by the inscription.
