Reverse description The quartered royal arms of Spain and the Two Sicilies, displayed on a crowned heraldic shield occupying the central field, incorporating the castles of Castile, the lions of León, the pales of Aragon, and the eagle of the Kingdom of Sicily. The shield is flanked on either side by the Pillars of Hercules. A partial circular Latin legend surrounds the design, reading SICILIAE ET HIERVSALEM, identifying the monarch's claim to the crowns of Sicily and Jerusalem. The strike is characteristic of hammered coinage, with an irregular flan and areas of weak relief.
