Obverse description Saint John the Baptist depicted standing facing, holding a long cross-scepter in his right hand, with a crescent device between his legs. The figure is rendered in the Gothic style typical of late medieval Rhenish goldgulden coinage. A circular legend in uncial Latin characters surrounds the central figure, reading the archbishop's name and title. The overall design closely follows the Florentine goldgulden tradition adapted for Trier ecclesiastical coinage.
