Aanvullende informatie

Werner von Falkenstein held the archbishopric of Trier from 1388 until his death in 1418, navigating the chaos of the Western Schism — a period when competing papal obediences fractured ecclesiastical authority across the Rhineland. His goldgulden issues follow the Rhenish type adopted by the four electoral mints after the 1386 Kurfürstentag monetary agreement, which standardized fineness and weight among the Rhine electors to combat the proliferation of debased imitations flooding regional trade routes.
