Obverse description Saint Peter enthroned facing, robed and nimbed, raising his right hand in benediction and holding a key in his left hand; flanked on either side by architectural towers representing the city gate of Trier. The arms of the Archbishopric of Trier — a cross on a field — appear on a shield in the lower field. A beaded inner circle frames the central design, with a Gothic legend running along the outer border.

Reverse description A large heraldic shield at center bearing the combined arms of the Archbishopric of Trier — a cross — impaled with the personal arms of Werner of Falkenstein, consisting of a fess chequy, all within a beaded inner circle. The shield is surmounted by a patriarchal cross. A Gothic legend in Latin encircles the design along the outer border, naming the issuing archbishop. The overall style is consistent with late 14th-century Rhenish goldgulden coinage.
