Obverse lettering V MONETA REIPUB NORIMBERGEN
Reverse description Saint Lawrence stands facing, nimbed and vested in liturgical dalmatic, holding a book or palm in his left hand; to his right stands a prominent gridiron, the instrument of his martyrdom, rendered in fine detail. A halo surrounds his head, and the figure is depicted in a hieratic, frontal posture consistent with late medieval goldgulden iconographic tradition. The circular Latin legend naming the saint runs around the periphery within a toothed border.
