Reverse description A large shield bearing the quartered arms of the Archbishopric of Cologne — displaying the distinctive checky cross of Cologne — occupies the central field, surrounded by a beaded inner circle. The heraldic shield is rendered in a bold Gothic style consistent with mid-fifteenth-century Rhenish coinage. A continuous Latin legend reading THEOD-ERIC-VS-ARCHIEP surrounds the shield within the outer border, punctuated by stops. The reverse design follows the standard reverse type established for the Cologne archiepiscopal goldgulden series.
