正面描述 Draped bust of Duke Philip II facing right within a beaded inner circle, depicted wearing an elaborate lace ruff collar and armour with detailed engravings. The effigy shows the duke with flowing hair and a pointed beard, rendered in the early Baroque style characteristic of Pomeranian coinage of the period. The Latin legend PHILIPPVS. II. DVX. STETIN. POMER surrounds the portrait between the inner circle and the outer beaded border.

附加信息

Philip II of Pomerania-Stettin ruled the duchy during one of its most precarious periods — the male Hohenzollern-Stettin line was visibly dying out, and Brandenburg had been pressing its inheritance claim for decades. This gulden was struck in the final years before Philip's death in 1618, which effectively triggered the succession crisis that Brandenburg would eventually win, absorbing Stettin into the electorate by 1637 after Swedish intervention complicated the transfer during the Thirty Years' War.

Fr#2089 is among the scarcer Pomeranian gold issues, reflecting the duchy's limited gold-striking activity in this period.
