| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a quartered heraldic shield bearing the combined arms of the Archbishopric of Trier and the Bishopric of Speyer, surmounted by an ecclesiastical prince's crown. The partial date numerals appear within the field to either side of the shield. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the Latin legend running continuously around the periphery, interrupted by pellet stops, identifying the issuer as Philip Christopher, by the grace of God Archbishop of Trier, Prince-Elector, and Bishop of Speyer. |
