Obverse description Central field features a globus cruciger — an orb surmounted by a cross — set within a four-lobed Gothic trilobe or quatrefoil frame with pointed cusps, all rendered in bold relief characteristic of late medieval hammered goldgulden. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding circular legend in Gothic uncial script reads MAXIMILIAN ROMANO REX, identifying the issuer as Maximilian, King of the Romans, separated by a small cross or mullet stops.
