Reverse description A quatrefoil frame encloses the quartered arms of Palatinate-Bavaria at center. The four surrounding lobes of the quatrefoil each bear one of the electoral or allied shields: those of Mainz, Trier, Cologne, and Jülich, arranged in the interstitial spaces. The abbreviated legend MON` NOV` BACHER` appears in the field, referencing the mint at Bacharach. The heraldic composition is characteristic of Palatinate coinage of the period of Louis III.
