Obverse description Full-length frontal figure of Saint Peter, patron of Cologne, standing in relief within a gothic architectural arch flanked by two towers, each surmounted by a crown. The saint is depicted nimbed, wearing episcopal vestments, holding a long cross-staff in his left hand and a large key — his traditional attribute — in his right hand. A trefoil quatrefoil ornament appears at his feet. The surrounding legend in uncial characters reads: + CVnO AREP VS TREVERE, within a beaded inner border.

Reverse description A centrally placed heraldic shield displaying the quartered arms of the Archbishopric of Cologne (barry of silver and black with a cross) and the Electorate of Trier (a red cross on silver), surmounted by the crossed keys of Saint Peter, the whole set within a cusped quatrefoil frame decorated with trefoil ornaments and pellets at the interstices. The surrounding legend in uncial script reads: + ADIIISTRATOR ECCE COLOnEnS, identifying Kuno of Falkenstein as Administrator of Cologne, within a beaded border.
