Reverse description St. Peter, patron saint of Cologne, is depicted enthroned facing, shown as a half-length or full figure beneath an elaborately crocketed Gothic architectural canopy with flanking pinnacles rendered in fine relief. The saint holds his attribute — a key — and is nimbed. The composition follows the standard Rhenish goldgulden reverse type, with a circular Gothic uncial legend surrounding the beaded inner border and the architectural throne frame.
