Obverse description A large fleur-de-lis occupies the central field, rendered in the Florentine style with elaborate scrolling volutes and a finely cross-hatched background. The lily rises from a small globular base and terminates in three stylized foliate blossoms. A circular legend in Gothic uncial script runs along the inner border of the coin, separated from the field by a plain inner circle. The design closely follows the prototype of the Florentine florin, adapted here for the Archbishopric of Trier.
