Obverse description Central field features an imperial orb — a globe bisected by a horizontal band and surmounted by a cross — set within a cusped quadrilobe or trilobe frame, itself enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The overall design is rendered in the bold, flat relief characteristic of hammered gold coinage of the early sixteenth century. The surrounding legend, separated from the central device by a beaded border, reads in Gothic uncial characters. The composition is strictly symmetrical, emphasizing the orb as the principal heraldic emblem of imperial authority.
