| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse depicts a standing frontal figure of Saint Martin of Tours, patron saint of Mainz, shown in full episcopal vestments including a mitre and long robes, his right hand raised in benediction and his left holding a pastoral staff or similar attribute. The figure is rendered in the linear Gothic style typical of mid-14th-century Rhenish hammered coinage, with fine drapery detail visible in the relief. Small decorative symbols flank the figure in the field. The surrounding legend in Gothic Latin characters reads MONETA MAGVNT, identifying this as the monetary issue of Mainz. A beaded border frames the design along the coin's irregular periphery. |
