Reverse description Central field displays the arms of the Archbishopric of Cologne — a shield barry of six pieces charged with a cross — set within a quatrefoil or multilobed inner frame, all executed in the Gothic hammered style typical of Rhenish goldgulden of the late 14th century. The shield is boldly struck in high relief with clearly defined lines. A beaded inner circle separates the central device from the peripheral legend. The surrounding circular legend in uncial Latin characters identifies the coin as a monetary issue of the Holy Roman Empire struck at Bonn (Bvnensis), reading outward from the top of the coin.
