Reverse description A floriated cross with elaborate foliate terminals occupies the center of the field within a beaded circle, dividing the design into four quarters, each containing a small heraldic shield of arms. The cross arms extend nearly to the inner beaded border, with the quatrefoil floral ornaments giving the design a distinctly Gothic character. The date appears at the conclusion of the peripheral Latin legend, which identifies the mint and denomination. The overall composition follows the established Rhenish goldgulden reverse type.
