| Beschrijving voorzijde | Standing figure of Saint John the Baptist facing front, rendered in Gothic style, occupying the central field of the coin. The saint is depicted in long robes, holding the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) before him with both hands, consistent with his traditional iconographic representation. A beaded inner circle frames the central figure, with the peripheral legend reading S. IOHANNES BAPTISTA in Gothic uncial characters running between the inner and outer beaded borders. At the base of the figure, a small heraldic shield is visible, bearing the arms of Saxony. The overall style reflects the late medieval hammered gold coinage tradition of the German states. |
