| Obverse description | Enthroned frontal figure of Saint Peter, patron of Osnabrück Cathedral, depicted with nimbus, seated on an elaborate Gothic throne and holding a key in his left hand and raising his right hand in benediction. Two ornate Gothic architectural canopies or tabernacles flank the saint on either side. Beneath the enthroned figure, a shield bearing the arms of the Bishopric of Osnabrück is prominently displayed in the lower field. A beaded inner circle frames the composition, with the abbreviated Latin legend distributed around the periphery. |
