Obverse description Christ enthroned in majesty upon a Gothic architectural throne, shown facing, with right hand raised in benediction and left hand holding a globus cruciger. The throne is flanked by elaborate Gothic pinnacles and turrets. Below the throne, a heraldic shield bearing the arms of Mainz is visible in the lower field. The surrounding legend in Gothic uncial script reads the archbishop's name and title, separated by decorative stops.
