Obverse description Enthroned figure of Saint Peter seated facing, draped in flowing robes, holding the keys of Heaven in his right hand and a book in his left; the Baden checkered shield (Schachbrettschild) appears at his feet in the lower field. The figure is rendered in the late Gothic style characteristic of Upper Rhenish coinage. A beaded inner circle frames the central design, with the abbreviated legend S PETRVS running in the outer margin.
