| Beschrijving voorzijde | A large fleur-de-lis dominates the central field, rendered in the bold Gothic style characteristic of mid-14th century Rhenish goldgulden, closely imitating the Florentine florin prototype. The three-lobed lily rises from a tightly bound base and fills the flan to the borders. A circular legend in uncial Latin characters surrounds the design, reading BOEMD AREPVS, an abbreviation for Boemundus Archiepiscopus, identifying the issuing archbishop Bohemund II of Trier. The coin presents a beaded inner border, and the hammered flan exhibits the characteristic irregularity of medieval hand-struck coinage. |
