The imperial orb is prominently superimposed at the centre of the shield, its cross rising above the shield's chief. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, separated from the field by a beaded border. The coin exhibits the characteristically irregular flan and bold relief typical of late 16th-century hammered gold coinage. |
