Obverse description City arms of Augsburg — a pine cone surmounting a base, flanked by decorative supporters — displayed within a heart-shaped shield, all set within a beaded inner circle. The shield is rendered in a bold, late Renaissance style typical of South German civic coinage. The date 1562 and the Latin legend AVGVSTA VINDELICORVM appear in the outer field, running clockwise around the circumference.
