Obverse description Central field occupied by the pointed quarterfoil frame enclosing the shield of Regensburg city arms, depicting two crossed keys on a divided field, with the date 1512 appearing above the shield within the quarterfoil. The arms are rendered in the late Gothic heraldic style typical of early sixteenth-century German municipal coinage. A circular beaded border separates the central device from the surrounding legend, which runs continuously around the coin's periphery in Gothic lettering.
