Obverse description Imperial eagle displayed with wings spread, facing forward, set within a beaded inner circle. The eagle, rendered in the Gothic style characteristic of mid-15th century Nuremberg coinage, occupies the full field. A circular uncial Latin legend runs between the inner beaded border and the outer milled rim, reading MONETA NORINBERGE or similar, identifying the issuing city.

Reverse description Full-length standing figure of Saint Lawrence, patron saint of Nuremberg, nimbed and shown facing forward in Gothic drapery. He holds a large gridiron diagonally across his body in his left hand and a book (the Gospels) in his right. A star appears in the upper field beside his halo. A circular uncial Latin legend surrounds the figure between the inner beaded circle and the outer rim, invoking the saint's name.
