| Obverse description | Two lines of bold Arabic calligraphic legend occupying the upper field, reading the mint name 'Jawanisah' (Java), separated from the lower field by a double horizontal line. Below the line, the Christian year date 1797 is inscribed in Western numerals, flanked by decorative foliate scroll ornaments.
