Obverse description A crowned lion rampant to left is depicted seated within an elaborate Gothic canopy supported by two slender architectural columns, with firesteel ornaments flanking the composition on either side. The lion, rendered in high relief with flowing mane and raised forepaw, occupies the central field in the characteristic Brabantine heraldic tradition. The surrounding legend is separated from the inner field by a beaded border, with the abbreviated mint authority inscription appearing in the upper arch of the canopy. The overall composition reflects the late medieval Flemish goldsmith style, with fine Gothic architectural detailing typical of hammer-struck gold coinage of the Southern Netherlands.
