附加信息

Ferdinand of Bavaria became Prince-Bishop of Liège in 1612 through the direct influence of his brother Maximilian I, Duke of Bavaria, who was consolidating Wittelsbach control over ecclesiastical territories along the Rhine and Meuse. The appointment was contested — Ferdinand was barely 24 and simultaneously held the archbishopric of Cologne — making Liège essentially a satellite of Bavarian dynastic policy rather than an independent ecclesiastical state.

Gold florins of this type follow the Rhenish florin standard that had governed regional trade coinage for over two centuries by this point. Delmonte records this issue as genuinely scarce among Ferdinand's Liège gold.
