Reverse description Central field bears the arms of Ferdinand of Bavaria as Prince-Bishop of Liège: a large quartered shield displaying the checky coat of arms of Bavaria combined with the arms of the Prince-Bishopric, surmounted by an elaborate episcopal crown. The shield is flanked by decorative acanthus-scroll supporters and rests within a beaded inner circle. The Latin legend surrounding the shield identifies Ferdinand's ecclesiastical and secular titles, reading between the inner and outer borders in a style consistent with hammered gold coinage of the early seventeenth century.
