Obverse description Central ornate cross with fleur-de-lis terminals occupying the field, with a decorative quatrefoil at the intersection. In each of the four angles formed by the arms of the cross appear alternating charges: two rampant lions and two fire-steels (flints), emblems associated with the Order of the Golden Fleece and the Burgundian-Habsburg dynasty. The peripheral legend, in Gothic and Roman lettering, runs clockwise within a beaded border, incorporating the date 1580.
