Obverse description Central field bears the crowned Danish royal arms within an ornate cartouche, displaying three passant lions above hearts, surmounted by a large royal crown. The split date 16-55 appears flanking the lower portion of the shield. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery, reading FRIDERICVS III D G DANIÆ, executed in bold relief characteristic of mid-17th century hammered Danish gold coinage.
