| Description du revers | Saint Peter, patron of the city of Bologna, is depicted standing full-length and facing forward, nimbed with a halo, draped in long flowing robes rendered in the Gothic style characteristic of late 14th-century Italian coinage. In his right hand he raises a key — his traditional apostolic attribute — while his left hand holds a book of the Gospels. The initial letter B, denoting Bologna, appears in the lower field. The surrounding circular Latin legend S PETRVS APOSTOLVS B identifies the figure as the Apostle Saint Peter, enclosed within a beaded border. |
