Suspended within the doorway is the Veil of Veronica bearing the face of Christ. The abbreviation RO to the left and MA to the right of the doorway denotes ROMA. The date 1625 appears in the exergue below the doorway. The circumferential legend, separated by pellet stops, encircles the entire design within a beaded border. |
