| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field displays the crowned oval shield of the Medici family, bearing the characteristic six palle (roundels) arranged in the traditional Medici pattern, with a small fleur-de-lis at the top of the shield. The arms are surmounted by a ducal crown. The circular legend reads COSMVS·III·D·G·MAX·DVX·ETR·VI, identifying Cosimo III as Grand Duke of Tuscany by the grace of God. |

The abbreviated legend ECCE ANCILLA DO (Ecce Ancilla Domini — Behold, the handmaiden of the Lord) arcs around the upper portion of the coin. The date appears in the exergue below the figures, as seen here as 1677. |
