The Correggio mint operated under a series of imperial privileges granted to this minor Emilian dynasty, whose authority to strike silver coinage was perpetually contested by neighboring powers. The joint anonymous issue by Gilbert, Camille, and Fabrice — three brothers ruling simultaneously — reflects the county's deliberate strategy of obscuring individual authority to complicate succession disputes and external legal challenges to their minting rights.
Correggio itself was absorbed into the Este duchy of Modena in 1635, ending over a century of independent coinage production.
