Obverse description The Doge of Genoa shown enthroned in full regalia, facing forward, holding a long sceptre terminating in a fleur-de-lis in his right hand and a globus cruciger surmounted by a small cross in his left. The figure is crowned and rendered in the Gothic style characteristic of medieval Italian coinage. A circular legend in uncial Latin lettering surrounds the central design within a beaded border.

Reverse description A bold cross fleury occupying the central field, with elaborate fleur-de-lis terminals extending from each arm of the cross, and additional foliate lily sprays filling each of the four angles. The design is executed in the characteristic Angevin gigliato style, rendered in high relief against a flat field. A circular legend in uncial Latin lettering runs within the outer beaded border.
