| Obverse description | Two conjoined busts facing left, depicted in the classical Janiform style representing the two-faced god Janus, a traditional Genoese heraldic emblem. Both busts are shown with elaborate curled hair adorned with floral decoration at the juncture, rendered in fine relief. A denomination mark appears to the right in the field. The circular legend reads BONIT·VNC·QVINQVE· in Latin characters, distributed around the periphery within a toothed border. |

The crowned arms are supported on either side by rampant griffins, the traditional heraldic supporters of the Republic of Genoa. The circumferential legend DVX·ET·GVP REIP·GENV is distributed around the shield, referencing the Doge and Governors of the Republic. The date 1668 is prominently displayed in the lower exergual area, all within a toothed border. |
