| Obverse description | Central round hole surrounded by a wreath composed of olive and oak branches tied at the base, framing the hole within the inner field. The Arabic legend reads above the wreath along the upper arc, with the French inscription ETAT DU GRAND LIBAN arching along the lower periphery. | Reverse description | Central round hole flanked symmetrically by two facing lion heads set within circular medallions, each surrounded by foliate sprigs. An open wreath of olive and laurel branches frames the central hole below and between the lion heads. The Arabic denomination legend غرش واحد (one ghirsh) appears in the upper field, with the numeral 1 flanking the hole at either side. The Latin inscription 1 PIASTRE is inscribed below the hole, and the dual dates 1940 and ١٩٤٠ (in Eastern Arabic numerals) appear in the lower exergue, separated by a central dot. A beaded border encloses the entire design. |
