Beschrijving voorzijde Within a beaded inner circle, the royal cypher 'SR' (Sigismundus Rex) in large interlaced letters occupies the central field, surmounted by an open royal crown. The monogram is rendered in a bold Gothic style characteristic of late 16th-century Swedish coinage. A circular Latin legend runs between the beaded circle and the coin's rim, divided by punctuation stops.

Aanvullende informatie

Sigismund III Vasa held the Swedish throne for only four years before his uncle Charles — governing as regent — effectively stripped him of real authority and drove him from the country. The fyrk series struck under his name during this period reflects that instability: production was inconsistent, dies were crudely finished, and the coinage circulated in a kingdom that was, politically, already disowning its king. Sigismund was formally deposed in 1599.

The Type II designation distinguishes this issue from the earlier striking by die arrangement.
