正面铭文 朝鮮 • 開國五百四年 • 한푼 • 1 FUN •
(Translation: Korea founded 504 years ago, 1 Pun)
背面描述 Central field bears the denomination in two stacked Chinese characters 一 分 (1 Fun) in bold relief. The numerals are framed by a wreath composed of two divergent floral branches — one bearing plum blossoms and the other bearing camellia-like flowers with leaves — tied at the base with a decorative ribbon bow. A single five-petalled plum blossom (the Korean royal flower) is positioned at the top of the wreath as a crown device. The whole design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle and a dentilated outer border.

附加信息

The 1 Fun of 1893 was among the first coins struck at the newly established Korean Imperial Mint in Incheon, itself built with Japanese technical assistance — a fact that foreshadowed the political trajectory of the peninsula over the following decade. Korea had only formally opened its mints to modern mechanical coinage in the early 1890s, replacing a centuries-old cast coin tradition almost overnight. The transition was abrupt and the early production runs inconsistent.

Issues from this short window, before Japanese financial pressures began reshaping Korean monetary policy after 1895, represent the last years of genuinely independent Korean coinage authority.
