Reverse description The reverse displays a multi-line Arabic and Persian legend in bold naskh script filling the central field, reading 'Fulus of Iran, struck in Gilan' (فلوس ايران ضرب گيلان). The inscriptions are arranged in sweeping diagonal lines across the flan, surrounded by a beaded inner border and plain outer rim. Floral or vegetal ornamental devices appear in the interstices between the legend lines, a typical decorative feature of Safavid provincial copper coinage. The strike is moderately sharp but irregular, consistent with hand-hammered production at a local mint.
