Obverse description Central device depicting the Mongkut (royal crown) of Rama IV, rendered in tiered pagoda form with a flame finial at apex, flanked on either side by foliate sprays in a decorative arrangement. The design occupies the full field and is executed in high relief consistent with hammered coinage technique. The entire device is enclosed within a bold beaded border running along the coin's periphery.

Reverse description Two lines of Thai script inscription filling the central field, identifying the issuing city as Krung Thep (Bangkok), the capital of Siam. The lettering is boldly struck in high relief with a characteristic fluid calligraphic style typical of mid-nineteenth century Siamese coinage. The inscription is fully contained within a beaded border consistent with that found on the obverse.
