正面描述 Bare-headed effigy of King Frederik VI facing left, rendered in a classical neoclassical style with naturalistically detailed curling hair. The truncation of the neck is cut plain, with the engraver's initials I.C. incused at the base. The circular legend surrounds the portrait along the periphery, separated from the milled border by a fine inner rim. The overall composition is characterised by restrained, dignified portraiture typical of early nineteenth-century Danish coinage.

附加信息

Frederik VI came to the Danish throne in 1808 having already governed as regent since 1784, when he effectively sidelined his mentally ill father Christian VII in a quiet palace coup at age sixteen. The Type 2 obverse was introduced in 1828 as the first formal revision to the portrait since Frederik assumed the crown, reflecting the king's aging appearance after two decades of reign — and two decades of grinding state debt inherited from Denmark's ruinous alliance with Napoleon.

The Frederik d'Or series tracked closely against the Dutch ducat in weight and fineness, a deliberate policy choice to keep Danish gold competitive in Baltic trade markets.
